John Francis Tracey of Dublin, Ireland

My ggrandfather was John Francis Tracey, born in Ireland c.1858. He had a brother Padraig and a sister Mary Teresa. Family story is that their parents died around 1860 and they were raised by relatives in Dublin. Mary Teresa became a nun in the TN, US. Patrick married in England and came to US after wife died. John came to US around 1878 where he married Elizabeth Greer in 1887. They settled in NY City and had 6 children (Ruth Letitia 1888-?, Elizabeth Veronica (Lily) 1890-1982, John Francis 1892-c1952, Thomas Francis 1896-1971, Joseph 1898-9, Edward William 1900-1953). John died in 1909. Padraig also settled in NY City but did not remarry and died with no known issue. John died in 1909. Let me know if you think these people may be connected with your Traceys.

I did my family tree and found out that My Great Great Timothy Treacy (1871-1923) married Anne Treacy (who was from Balbriggan). Anne was teacher and was best friends with another teacher from Balbriggan, Jane/Janice Flanagan from Balbriggan who changed her name to Sinead de Valera (Eamon DeValera's wife). I know he was a blacksmith who worked with Smith Pearson. He lived in Ballybough and I was wondering if there are any other Treacys out there who can trace their roots to Ballybough?

Marcella b. 1882 (State Reg: Tracy, Marcella, Dublin South, 4th Quarter 1882 2 624)

My great aunt, Elizabeth Tracy's (Tracey) marriage license states Dublin as place of birth. Based on Census records I figure her birth to be between 1881-1883. Parents - Alfred Tracey & Bridget Boyle Tracey. Sister, Marcella also born in Ireland about 1884-85. Believe they migrated to US (NJ) in about 1885.

Kathy 4 March 2005

Can you advise how I proceed to get both Alfred & Bridget's birth records?  I do not know where in Ireland/England he was born but do know it was approximately 1855.  Based on her death certificate (in Jersey City) she was born about 1859. On the baptismal records of some of her children are what I think might be her siblings or relatives (Earl Boyle, Lizzie Boyle and Anne Boyle).  Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Not sure how to learn who Alfred & Bridget had for siblings, though I strongly suspect some of the family also came to Jersey City.  Alfred and Bridget came over somewhere after 1882 but before 1884 as their third child was born in the States in 1884.

Hi, I'm trying to make a family tree, and my present relatives come from Ireland and most live in the UK. I only know that my Great Grandfather helped Michael Collins back in 1916 and got a medal. They lived in Donnybrook, Dublin. Their surname was actually Edwards though. My Grandmother is Mary Tracy (nee Edwards) and Grandfather was Patrick Anthony Tracy, in the Army, stationed in Wexford. If anyone knows anything could you please help? either about the Edwards' or Tracy's. I think that the Edwards family is also related to Stafford too. I know of Peter, Michael, Patty, Nancy and Sally Edwards. I think that they were born from the 20's to the 30's. Melanie Tracy-Pettis
