Kings County
On the night of Tuesday last, on the townland of Bollrihy, near Dunbkerrin, in this county, the house of a small farmer named Thomas Tracey was burned to the ground. To the motives which induced the commission of this outrage there is as yet not a clue; but the fact remains that Tracey refuses to swear information and declines seeking compensation for the injury sustained has given rise to strong suspicions as regards the probable perpetration.
Between the years 1862 and 1865, over six and a half thousand Irish people sailed from Queenstown, Co. Cork to Queensland, Australia. Nearly two thousand of these settlers originated from the midland counties being recruited by parish priest, Father Patrick Dunne, operating from Tullamore, King's County. Mr William Tracey, a native of the King's County, was one of the passengers by the Erin-go-bragh in 1862.

Simon Molloy’s uncommunicative father, Maurice Treacy Molloy was born in 1876 and educated at the noted Oratory School founded by Cardinal Newman. He became a land agent, and in that capacity went to the United States to work for Howard Gould the millionaire. World War I saw him claimed by the British Army and serving later in Naval Intelligence. Invalided out towards the end of the conflict, he resumed his former profession as land agent and died in 1965 aged 88.

MONEYGALL V BOHERAPHOOKA
A very social and interesting cricket match between the above teams, was witnessed by some hundreds of spectators at Moneygall on Sunday last, the 27th August, in a field kindly given for the occasion by Mr. Bergin, Cullenwaine. The only drawback to the day's amusement, was the absence of Mr. Lambe, which was greatly regretted by the Moneygall boys. The day being exceptionally fine, there was a good sprinkling of the fair sex, which greatly contributed to the day's enjoyment. The game, which was a very exciting one, resulted in a victory for the home team by twenty runs. Much credit is due to the batting of Cormack, Treacy, Meara, and Troy for the home team; while Colliton, P. Whelan, and Byrne did good work for the visitors. The bowling of Meara and Ryan, deserves special praise, while that of Aherne and Colliton was equally up to the standard.
