FAMILY HISTORY

 

There is a lack of church records available. As such, the following is mostly based on State Registration records which start in 1864.

 

Also, there are two Michael Delaneys living and married mid-1800s, presuming living in Askinvillar Lower and Askinvillar Upper. The records usually only state Michael Delaney as father.

 

Askinvillar and Springmount are located beside each other near Kiltealy Village. Greenan is located to the south, north of Killaan and the Grange townlands are south of Killaan.

 

Michael Delaney & Anty Somers are the parents of Kate Delany (1850s-) who married John Morressy. They may also be the parents of Maurice Delaney (1850s-1916) as the Rev Cannon J Somers died 1956 buried St. Margarets RC Curracloe, was thought to be a relative.
